GREEK YOGURT FOR HEALTH

HEALTHY & DELICIOUS SUBSTITUTES USING GREEK YOGURT

Greek Yogurt is such a versatile ingredient that is not limited to eating it as a snack by itself anymore! I buy a large container of Greek Yogurt weekly and use it for anything from a sour cream substitute to sweet desserts! Read on for some new uses for Greek Yogurt and start cutting fat, creating good digestion and eating more protein pronto!
1. Add to Mashed Potatoes or Top Baked Potato
Add some zing to mashed potatoes instead of sour cream, cream or buttermilk. I actually really enjoy adding
Greek yogurt to mashed potatoes because it makes them super creamy without adding too much fat and of course add them to baked potatoes as a sour cream substitute, just add a pinch of salt.

2. In Dips
No need for mayonnaise or sour cream anymore. Greek Yogurt is a perfect substitute for mayo and sour cream and I swear you will never taste the difference. I am so used to doing this every time I see mayo or sour cream I automatically reach for the Greek Yogurt.

3. In Creamy Pasta Sauce
Greek Yogurt is perfect to thicken cream sauces in place of cream just make sure you add it when you take the sauce off the burner.

4. In Baking
Who knew that Greek Yogurt can be used in recipes in place of common ingredients like buttermilk, butter, and cream cheese.

5. In Home Made Creamy Salad Dressings
Home made salad dressings are one of the easiest foods to make! It is so good to make store bought items at home because you don't have to eat all of the preservatives or pure crap that goes into store bought foods. Home made creamy dressings don't even include that many ingredients. Stir some Greek Yogurt in with low fat milk and seasonings and you are done.
Combine with Dijon mustard, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper for a healthy salad dressing. Store in an airtight container and you are all set!

6. Sandwiches or Wraps
Try making your regular sandwich but replace the mayo with
Greek yogurt and see if you even notice the difference. At l
unch time
swap it for the mayo in chicken, tuna, and egg salads to cut down on calories and saturated fat.

7. Use it as a Marinade or Coating
Greek yogurt is the perfect food to marinate chicken to keep it very juicy. You can even coat the meat with Greek yogurt and and roll in grated parmesan cheese and bake!

8. Snacks. Blend with creamy nut butter for a slimmed-down version. Blend with canned pumpkin, chopped walnuts, and pumpkin pie spice—or, in a pinch, cinnamon—for a tasty pumpkin pie-inspired snack. 

9. In Cake
instead of oil and eggs! Put 1 cup of Greek Yogurt with boxed cake mix and 1 cup of water and voila! Cake at 180 calories per serving.

Desserts... Stir into a bowl of fresh sliced strawberries or fruit salad and add some Stevia for sweetness.
Love ice cream, but hate that it isn't healthy? Frozen Yogurt. Add some peanut butter or cocoa powder and pop in the freezer for about 30 minutes along with some Stevia if you want it sweet. You have yourself a delicious and low fat treat!

11.Try it in your post-workout shake instead of protein powder to help refuel tired muscles. Add to fruit smoothie for probiotic benefits and extra protein. Plus it makes a yummy milk shake consistency

12. Breakfast...Top a bowl of oatmeal with a big scoop for added creaminess and protein to help you feel full all morning. Stir maple syrup and cinnamon in vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt for a dessert-like topping on fresh berries.

13. Soups... Instead of using heavy cream in clam chowder or lobster or tomato bisques, stir in some Greek yogurt.
